Reacting to Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit:

I’ve known Molly for almost 20 years and in that time she’s always been able to capture a specific aura of magic and life within the things that she creates. Her style and taste have evolved with time but their core has always remained. Most artists find their style and voice over years of searching and honing. Molly almost seems to have been born with hers.

When I first read this work I was instantly transported back to when I was in middle school. It was night. Molly and I were exploring her townhouse complex at an hour that I had never been awake for. It was thrilling, enchanting, invigorating, haunting, and lonely. That night Molly told me stories of the fae and played me music unlike any I’d heard before. When I left her house the next day I felt full, bubbling over with life, restless and changed. Through this work she has shown that she has the same ability to affect me today.

Maybe her writing came to me at the perfect moment. Stuck in self isolation, watching riots and civil unrest break out, conspiracy theories spreading like fire on social media, while I felt stuck with my hands unwilling to create work. Perhaps if I had read this at any other time it wouldn’t have had such an impact. Perhaps I would have always been entangled by her words. Either way, once I read this work I was compelled. The only thing that made sense to me after Molly’s words were rabbits. I don’t even like rabbits.
